The Breakfast Room

The Breakfast Room

Wouldn’t it be lovely to begin the day here in this tranquil place? The Breakfast Room was purposely positioned on the eastern side of the mansion in order to enjoy the sunrise and views of the garden.

The Paines originally planned for a wall fountain in the room. Since they never moved in, the plumbing for it wasn’t completed. Instead, the structure is now used as a plant display. Like the fountain, not all the design aspects of this home worked out perfectly. Notice the two chairs that are not around the table. Do you think they look small? Letters in the museum archives indicate that Nathan Paine certainly thought so – so he had them redesigned to be more comfortable. The second set of chairs is placed around the table.
